Devil’s Chocolate cake is a classic and indulgent dessert that is loved by all chocolate lovers around the world. This rich and moist chocolate cake is often considered as a perfect treat for a special occasion or just as an indulgent snack.
The name of the cake itself implies the sinful and decadent nature of the dessert. Its origin is somewhat disputed, but it is believed to have been created in the mid-20th century. Unlike the traditional chocolate cake, this cake uses cocoa powder as the main ingredient, which gives it a darker and richer chocolate flavor.
One of the things that set Devil’s Chocolate cake apart is its texture. It is typically moist and fluffy, owing to its unique ingredients like buttermilk, baking soda, and vinegar. This combination reacts to produce a tender crumb and a soft texture.
When it comes to icing, Devil’s Chocolate cake is usually paired with a rich and creamy frosting, such as a chocolate ganache or buttercream frosting. This enhances the cake’s chocolate flavor and makes it an incredibly indulgent and decadent dessert.
Overall, Devil’s Chocolate cake is a dessert that is sure to impress any chocolate lover. The combination of rich chocolate flavor, tender texture, and luscious frosting makes it a real winner, whether it’s enjoyed on a special occasion or as an indulgent treat.
Our De La Vega Devil’s Chocolate cake is a moist, rich chocolate layer cake, it traditionally has more chocolate than a regular chocolate cake, making it darker in color and with a heavier texture. The cake is paired with a rich chocolate frosting.
Traditionally unsweetened chocolate baking squares are used, at De La Vega we are using Ceremonial Grade Cacao, and Balinese Robusta coffee as a liquid to enhance the chocolate flavor.
Our recipe uses hot water as the cake’s main liquid, rather than milk because our cake is plant based (vegan). Our Devil’s Chocolate cake is distinguished from other chocolate cakes by the use of natural sweetener, like Canadian maple syrup and high quality dates that give our cake a deeper and darker mahogany color. Besides vegan, our Devil’s Chocolate cake come without butter or any other substitute, no flour, and no eggs.
